The designed objects are rainwater drainage networks and wastewater treatment facilities in Vilnius. Currently a surface water collection system in the area under consideration is working but there are no wastewater treatment facilities. Wastewater from the territory of Šiaurės miestelis flows through the DN800 pipes of rainwater drainage networks. The wastewater in Kareiviai street flows through DN1200 pipes. The current capacity of the pipes is too low, which leads to flooding of the streets during the rainy season resulting in losses for residents and businesses. The planned capacity of rainwater (surface water) treatment facilities is 2200 l/s.
The surface water treatment plant (bar screens and oil skimmers) shall consist of the following elements:
• sewage treatment facilities, oil skimmers with sand bar screens;
• monitoring unit;
• infrastructure required in order to provide services (access, lighting, etc.).
